General Summary: Seasonal Job (October 2017 - January 2018); during our Annual Brine Shrimp Harvest Operations. Position is primarily responsible for the proper and secure loading and SAFE operation of commercial vehicles for the transportation of the Company's employees. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to: Ensuring proper loading, weight-balancing, and safe operation of commercial vehicles for transportation of, people, brine shrimp product, or other goods between Company facilities. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and-or state laws, regulations, and-or agency rules, standards, and guidelines. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Self-starter. High School diploma or general education degree (GED); one (1) year verifiable experience operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) within the past three (3) years. No more than two (2) moving violations in the past five (5) years. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to operate all equipment in a SAFE MANNER and obey all safety laws, rules, regulations, and policies. Must have working knowledge of all-terrain lift equipment operation, heavy truck-2-ton-straight truck operation, tractor-excavator operation. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Working Conditions: Indoor and Outdoor. Potential exposure to full range of environmental conditions and non-weather wet or humid conditions. Consistently work near and with moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles. May work in high or precarious places. Work environment is subject to vibration and may fluctuate between heat and cold. Noise level is moderate to loud. Physical Demands: Ability to work long hours as needed. Majority of time requires verbal communication in English (speaking and listening-understanding), standing, walking, sitting, use of hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds throughout the day and, to a lesser extent, the ability to lift up to 100 pounds. Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less, at 20 feet or more, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
