BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Associate Operations Leader in Sandy, Utah

Responsible for addressing or escalating employee performance issues. Coordinates and holds team accountable to accomplish department safety, quality, and production goals and objectives.

Job Description


  • Participates in staffing plans and ensuring associates are trained to perform their jobs and progress in the future.

  • Responsible for the following activities: hiring, promotions, rewarding, discipline, and setting/managing overtime for area of responsibility.

  • Ensure an open flow of communication exists between production associates and management.

  • Represents the concerns of production associates to management, as well as management concerns to production associates.

  • Actively drive Continuous Improvement (C.I.) activities and support C.I. programs such as: KAS, 5S, Total Production Management, and 20 keys. Execute to established production schedules.

  • Oversee training of team to ensure associates are knowledgeable in and following Standard Work and Good Manufacturing practices (GMP). Work with Department Learning Administrator to update and monitor associate learning plans in C2C.

  • Ensure fair and consistent application of company and departmental policies and practices, such as vacation, sick, attendance and FMLA. Communicate document and policy changes.

  • Conduct/initiate root cause investigations for injuries/accidents/near misses for assigned team.

  • Document associate performance throughout the year and deliver annual performance review to associates.

  • Track production metrics to ensure that department goals are being met. Communicates these metrics and progress to associates and management.

  • Conduct/support department team meetings.

  • Develop and motivate team members through positive comments, constructive feedback, and recognition.

  • Works with associates to resolve employee relations issues and concerns; involves Supervisor and HR when needed.

Education and Experience Requirement:

  • Sufficient on-the-job experience and high school diploma / GED; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • Two years of supervision preferred.

  • Experience in medical device production and/or technical manufacturing support.

  • Experience in quality and statistical control preferred.

  • Ensure manufactured products meet the established quality requirements.

  • Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations.Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

  • Other duties as assigned.
